Job summary

Life Cycle Engineering seeks an On-Site Submarine Sail System Representative to inspect, train, and evaluate failures of submarine Sail HM&E systems and to provide maintenance support to regional groups, fleet teams, and naval shipyards. The role covers CONUS and overseas tasks across multiple locations including Norfolk, VA, and other naval bases.

The position requires a DoD Secret clearance and extensive experience with submarine HM&E systems, SUBSAFE and non-SUBSAFE items, and liaison

Qualifications

• Five years of prior military, DoD, or related experience in submarine HM&E systems maintenance.
• Five years as a group leader with Maintenance Activities, Shipyards, or similar agencies.
• Two of the five years in inspection, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting onboard U.S. Navy submarines.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and oversight of HM&E submarine sail systems at on-site location.
• Update technical databases and provide repair recommendations.
• Review and validate technical documentation and configurations.
• Represent TYCOM/Squadron on sail HM&E issues on the waterfront.
• Assist with sail zone installations and related duties as needed.

Submarine Sail Representative (Multiple Locations)

The On-Site Submarine Sail System Representative will be responsible for inspecting, training, and evaluating failures of submarine Sail Systems. They will also provide operational and technical maintenance support to regional support groups, fleet maintenance teams, and naval shipyard personnel. The representative will provide guidance on the inspection, installation, repair, and maintenance of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Submarine Sail Systems and SSBN Towed Antenna systems for SSN, SSBN, SSGN Class Submarines. This includes both SUBSAFE and non-SUBSAFE level items, with tasks assigned both within the continental U.S. (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS) to support the operational Submarine Force. These contingent positions (pending contract award) are based in various locations: Norfolk, VA; Kings Bay, GA; Groton, CT; Portsmouth, NH; San Diego, CA; Bangor, WA; and Santa Rita, Guam.

Required Clearance

• Must be a US citizen with active DoD Secret clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform various (Close Out, INSURV, Post Ref Ift, Depot Availability In-Progress and Completion, etc. ) inspections and oversight of systems at the ISEA Representative On-Site location.
• Systems include high data rate antenna, communications antenna, imaging/periscopes, universal modular masts, radar/navigation, snorkel induction, electronic support measure mast, sail closure doors, towed buoy, and general submarine sail HM&E systems.
• Update technical databases with issues identified in above inspections and provide repair recommendations to maintenance facilities.
• Review and validate technical documentation.
• Validate system configurations and document discrepancies.
• Perform liaison support during sail zone installations as requested.
• Represent the local TYCOM/Squadron on technical issues related to the sail zone and sail HM&E systems on the waterfront.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or required as business needs dictate.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

• High School diploma
• At least five (5) years of prior military, DoD, or related experience in Submarine HM&E systems maintenance.
• The experience should include Five (5) years' experience working as a group leader with Maintenance Activities, Shipyards, or other government contracted maintenance agencies.
• Two (2) of the Five Years should include experience in inspection, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of Sail and/or Towed Antenna systems onboard U.S. Navy submarines.

Physical Demands and Expectations

• Regular physical activity includes walking, climbing stairs, working upon staging at various heights, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
• Ability to speak, read, hear, and write without assistance, including use of phone, computers and other office equipment.
