Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering COLUMBIA Class Support Engineer I/II in Groton, CT. The role focuses on developing build strategies, tools, and fixtures for submarine components within a design-build-sustain environment, with travel to related yards as needed.

The engineer will collaborate with engineers, trades, vendors and planners, performing manufacturing documentation and direct shipyard support to enable efficient assembly of Columbia-class submarines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
• 0-5 years experience of post-graduate engineering experience

Responsibilities

• Develop designs for tools and fixtures for buildability and manufacturability
• Prepare Manufacturing Engineering Documents for sequence and alignment critical installations
• Provide direct ship yard support across Groton, Quonset Point and Newport News
• Interact daily with engineers/designers, ship yard trades, manufacturing vendors and planning representatives
