Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking an Internal Structures (FWD) Engineer to design, analyze and produce disclosures for Columbia Class submarine internal structures. You will perform both FEA and hand calculations and collaborate with designers to meet all structural requirements.

Required: bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering by June 2027, 0–5 years post‑graduate experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering by June 2027.
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Preferred: structural concentration in degree, DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze and produce disclosures for submarine internal structures.
• Perform engineering calculations including FEA and hand calculations.
• Support shipyard construction representatives to resolve schedule-critical issues.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams to meet requirements and schedules.
