Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the COLUMBIA Manufacturing Engineering team. You will work in a design, build, and sustainment environment to develop build strategies and fixtures for submarine structures, ships systems and modules.

The role emphasizes engagement with engineers, shipyard trades, vendors, and planning staff across Groton and Quonset Point, with some travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years post-graduate engineering experience preferred.
• Background in structural analysis and/or finite element analysis methods.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop methods and tools required by the shipbuilder.
• Perform structural analysis to validate the design.
• Support tooling delivery from procurement through shipyard implementation.
