Job summary

Serco is seeking a qualified engineer to support the Ship’s Control Systems (SCS) and Hovering and Missile Compensation Systems (HMCCS) SIT for the COLUMBIA class program. You will work on design integration, system engineering, and cross‑office collaboration to ensure FBW requirements are met for Columbia and DREADNOUGHT classes.

You will engage NAVSEA and UK MoD stakeholders, manage milestones, and travel about 10% to meet program needs while maintaining a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office packages effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible with job specifications and schedules.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Travel 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the SCS SIT Lead and Forward Project Officer.
  • Support design and integration of SCS and HMCCS per Ship Building Specifications.
  • Execute full System Engineering process for Columbia Class SCS and HMCCS.
  • Lead or support SCS and HMCCS System Integration Team meetings.
  • Facilitate design decision reviews with NAVSEA, SSP, UK MoD, and NAVY centers.
  • Manage integration, testing, and delivery milestones for Columbia and Dreadnought classes.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks; develop mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with other SITs to resolve interfaces and integration issues.
  • Assist leadership to resolve emergent issues in SCS and HMCCS areas.
  • Develop engineering staff and budget with NAVWARCEN and contractors via TPS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
