Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT, seeks a 2nd shift Ship Superintendent to plan and execute submarine construction activities on the Groton waterfront. You will manage Ship Superintendents, General Foremen, Operations Supervisors and support staff to meet schedules, safety, quality and budget targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years Ship Superintendent and/or Supervisor experience.
• Willingness to support overtime/off-shift hours for key events.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; trade experience and VA Class program valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Ships Manager with coordination of work during new construction/overhaul.
• Train Ship Superintendents while fostering operational excellence.
• Coordinate tasks across multiple personnel and organizations to meet schedules and quality.
• Interface with management from Operations, Nuclear Test, RadCon, Inspection, Engineering, Ship’s Force, RPCO, NRRO.
• Administer documents for nuclear work such as TIRs, Ripouts, ERs, and Work Orders.
• Provide oversite to high-risk evolutions and critical path work.
• Manage overtime assignments for D271 personnel to balance work/home life.
• Act on behalf of Ships Manager when directed; support succession planning.
• Maintain clear communication channels for seamless operations.
