Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Middletown, RI is seeking an entry level Back-Fit and Modernization Test Engineer to join the Newport Engineering Office. The role supports NPES Ship Alterations on Ohio, Virginia, and Columbia class submarines and interfaces with NAVSEA/NUWC teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2–6 years of Navy or electrical shipyard experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Preferred: Submarine Forward Electronics rating or testing experience in NPES environment.
• Experience with Submarine Ship Alterations and Engineering Changes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Backfit and Modernization test activities for NPES Ship Alterations.
• Read and interpret design drawings, Engineering Changes and Technical Manuals.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and design personnel to verify systems.
• Interface with customers and end users such as NAVSEA and NUWC as needed.
• Occasional travel to shipyards or client sites is required.
