Job summary

Alfa Laval Mid Europe GmbH is seeking a production assembler to join our team in Richmond, VA. You will assemble gasket plate heat exchangers using blueprints and SOPs, operate hand and power tools, and perform quality checks.

Daily tasks include documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and contributing to continuous improvement through 5S and KAIZEN initiatives. Responsibilities include cross-training across manufacturing steps, following safety standards, and supporting team

About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly of our gasket plate heat exchanger. You will assemble components together to build finished products, requiring strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to follow blueprints/instructions in a fast-paced setting.

Key duties include using hand/power tools, performing quality checks, documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating with teams, often involving repetitive tasks. This is important part of contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization.

As a part of the team, you will:

• Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager and execute production with Standard Operating Procedures and blueprints as a base.
• Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
• Be active and engaged into the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining the deviations and propose solutions.
• Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Look into your own areas for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventories etc.) elimination opportunities and drive KAIZEN improvements.
• Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
• Constantly look for the cross-training opportunities within different manufacturing processes & better ways to add value.
• Use the downtime efficiently to learn the new processes & run improvements from the status board activities.
• Accurately records data on quality documentation, components and product per company standards and/or customer requirements
• Participates in the team's continuous improvement and development in accordance with the Alfa Laval Production System (ALPS). Examples include 5S, Problem resolution process (PRP), and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
• Using the SOP Matrix, will cross train to support any and all department or factory demands, as required.
• Will be trained and must pass Industrial Vehicle Test (Crane, Forklift, Joey) Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts.
• Accurate & Consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform others as required by the specific process) At Alfa Laval, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and dynamic workplace that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
