Job summary

Alfa Laval in the United States is seeking an assembler to join the gasket plate heat exchanger team. You will assemble components, follow blueprints, use hand and power tools, and perform quality checks while documenting your work in a fast-paced environment.

You will report to the Team Leader, participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities, and help reduce waste while maintaining safety. Prior experience with industrial tools and reading SOPs is valued.

Responsibilities

• Receive daily work assignments and execute production per SOPs and blueprints.
• Report deviations to status boards and update leaders.

• Review and suggest improvements to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Identify waste and drive KAIZEN improvements.
• Engage in 5S routines to maintain high standards.
• Cross-train across manufacturing processes to add value.
• Accurately record data on quality documentation.
• Lift raw materials and finished products safely; pass Industrial Vehicle Test.

About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly of our gasket plate heat exchanger. You will assemble components together to build finished products, requiring strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to follow blueprints/instructions in a fast-paced setting. Key duties include using hand/power tools, performing quality checks, documenting processes, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating with teams, often involving repetitive tasks. This is important part of contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization.

As a part of the team, you will:

• Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader / Team Manager and execute production with Standard Operating Procedures and blueprints as a base.
• Report any deviations (Safety, Quality, Parts, Equipment, etc.) to Status Boards immediately and update the Team Leader / Team Manager.
• Be active and engaged into the Daily Status Board Meetings by explaining the deviations and propose solutions.
• Review & suggest any improvements for the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Look into your own areas for waste (time, motion, transportation, inventories etc.) elimination opportunities and drive KAIZEN improvements.
• Engaged in daily & weekly 5S routines to achieve high 5S Standard and Sustain it.
• Constantly look for the cross-training opportunities within different manufacturing processes & better ways to add value.
• Use the downtime efficiently to learn the new processes & run improvements from the status board activities.
• Accurately records data on quality documentation, components and product per company standards and/or customer requirements
• Participates in the team’s continuous improvement and development in accordance with the Alfa Laval Production System (ALPS). Examples include 5S, Problem resolution process (PRP), and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
• Using the SOP Matrix, will cross train to support any and all department or factory demands, as required.
• Will be trained and must pass Industrial Vehicle Test (Crane, Forklift, Joey)
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts.
• Accurate & Consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Uniform others as required by the specific process)
