Job Duties

• Market and grow the business
• Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Control expenses
• Promote and sell services and retail products
• Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair
• Complete all other duties as assigned by manager

The stylist-in-training at Regis is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. It is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and effective communication with management, customers, and co-workers. The role may lead to a promotion to stylist once licensed, contingent upon meeting specific requirements including holding a valid license, demonstrating proficiency in salon services, and embodying Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain the necessary license(s) within or before 90 days of hire
• Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
• Good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills
• Interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and management
• Computer knowledge including POS systems and data entry
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Essential Functions

Market and Grow the Business

• Promote and sell services and products, including recommending additional services and retail items to enhance customer satisfaction
• Convey clear pricing information
• Coordinate promotional displays using ShopTalk
• Responsible for retail sales to walk-in customers

Provide Exceptional Customer Service

• Understand customer needs, greet professionally, escort clients, and give salon tours when needed
• Estimate wait times
• Answer calls promptly and professionally
• Handle complaints and refer issues to management

Manage and Control Expenses

• Follow weekly schedules
• Charge accurately for services and products, applying discounts as per policy
• Safeguard assets by adhering to policies

Complete Administrative Tasks/Compliance

• Assist with salon operations: answering phones, stocking, cleaning, and other duties
• Communicate professionally
• Maintain safety standards
• Attend mandatory meetings and training
• Handle POS transactions including opening/closing register

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs., occasional lifting 10-25 lbs.
• Continuous standing and reaching
• Occasional pushing, pulling, climbing ladders
• Exposure to chemicals and fragrances
• Ability to communicate with customers
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Occasional travel for meetings and training
