Job Duties
- Market and grow the business
- Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Control expenses
- Promote and sell services and retail products
- Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair
- Complete all other duties as assigned by manager
The stylist-in-training at Regis is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. It is their responsibility to deliver exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers.
Promotion to Stylist
The stylist-in-training may be eligible for promotion once licensed. To qualify, they must:
- Possess a valid license in their applicable state
- Perform duties permitted by their license, including cutting, styling, coloring, waxing, washing, and perming
- Demonstrate Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain necessary licenses within or before 90 days of hire
- Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
- Good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills
- Interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and management
- Computer knowledge including POS systems and data entry
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Essential Functions
Market and Grow the Business
- Promote and sell services and products, recommend additional services, and contribute to customer satisfaction
- Understand and convey pricing clearly
- Coordinate promotional displays using ShopTalk
- Sell to walk-in retail customers
Provide Exceptional Customer Service
- Greet customers professionally, escort them, and give salon tours when needed
- Estimate wait times, answer calls promptly, handle complaints, and refer issues to management
Manage and Control Expenses
- Follow salon schedules, charge correctly for services and products, and safeguard assets
Administrative Tasks and Compliance
- Assist with answering phones, stocking, sweeping, and other duties
- Communicate professionally, maintain safety standards, attend mandatory meetings, and handle POS transactions
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs., occasional 10-25 lbs.
- Continuous standing and reaching
- Occasional pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and exposure to chemicals
- Ability to communicate with customers and read/write basic documents
- Occasional travel for meetings and training
