Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools seeks an In-School Suspension Supervisor to provide and supervise instructional and behavioral activities for students referred by the principal or assistant principal. The role ensures assigned work is completed, serves as an advisor, maintains classroom order, and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
• Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

Responsibilities

• Maintains attendance rolls, study hall roster, tardy roster and records.
• Tutors students when requested.
• Calls security for student escorts to restroom, lunch, or other designated areas.
• Monitors, and defuses angry, out of control or hostile student behaviors.
• Communicates with parents as appropriate on discipline in study hall.
• Maintains a quiet study environment.
• Compiles reports and files of individual and group incidents, action taken and/or recommended. Prepares daily and weekly reports and maintains sign-in logs of students.
• Complies with on-campus-suspension rules by gathering student assignments from teachers to be completed while student is absent from class.
• Completes process form with students as to their behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
