Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a dedicated professional to coordinate instructional activities for students in in-school suspension. The role emphasizes monitoring academic work, implementing anger-management procedures, and maintaining confidential records.

Responsibilities include tutoring, coordinating with S-Teams, communicating with parents about conduct, and ensuring smooth progression of students back to the regular classroom while adhering to district training and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• Two (2) years of experience working with urban and/or disadvantaged youth.
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional activities with classroom teachers for students referred to in-school suspension.
• Monitor students' regular academic work while in in-school suspension.
• Work with team members to implement procedures to help students develop anger-control techniques and promote positive behavior.
• Keep accurate documentation and records of student data.
• Collaborate with S-Teams and district staff as needed.
• Provide tutorial assistance to students assigned to in-school suspension.
• Oversee special assignments related to students’ infractions.
• Monitor student progress after return to regular classroom.
• Contact parents regarding conduct and provide behavior modification plans.
