Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools seeks a dedicated staff member to support students in in‑school suspension. This role coordinates instructional activities, monitors academic work, and provides tutorial assistance while working closely with teachers, counselors, S‑Teams and district staff.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or two years of college, and CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain them, plus experience with urban or disadvantaged youth.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two years of college (48 semester hours).
• Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• Two years of experience with urban and/or disadvantaged youth.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional activities with classroom teachers for students in in‑school suspension.
• Monitor students' regular academic work while in‑school suspension.
• Assist students in developing anger management techniques and constructive behavior.
• Maintain accurate documents and records related to student data.
• Work with S‑Teams and district staff as needed.
• Provide tutorial assistance to students in in‑school suspension.
• Oversee special assignments related to students’ infractions.
• Collaborate with school and district personnel to meet academic, behavioral needs.
