  • Respond to student health, safety, and support needs while abroad.
  • Oversee affiliate program deadlines and requirements, including evaluations and processing.
  • Manage Office of Study Abroad social media and outreach efforts.
  • Design and participate in promotional sessions with university offices and groups.
  • Organize large events like I Love Study Abroad Week.
  • Supervise 10‑14 student employees in the Study Abroad Ambassador program.

OVERVIEW Brandeis University is seeking a Study Abroad Advisor to support students pursuing off-campus study opportunities for Brandeis degree credit. Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, this role combines student advising, program administration, event coordination, and student employee supervision within the Office of Study Abroad. The advisor works closely with students before, during, and after their international experiences while helping manage affiliate program processes and outreach efforts.

Key responsibilities
  • Advise students on appropriate academic year and summer off‑campus study programs for Brandeis degree credit from a portfolio of more than 200 approved programs in 50 countries.
  • Conduct in‑person and virtual advising appointments and lead general information sessions.
  • Support students with program applications, financial resources, transfer credit, university policies, health and safety concerns, cultural adjustment, and academic and non‑academic matters before and during study abroad.
  • Respond to student health, safety, and support needs while students are abroad.
  • Assist students with re‑adjustment to campus life and credit transfer upon return.
  • Oversee deadlines and requirements for semester and summer affiliate programs, including course evaluations, application assistance, application management, and tracking.
  • Manage portions of the Office of Study Abroad social media presence and marketing efforts.
  • Design and participate in promotional sessions with university offices, student groups, and academic departments.
  • Organize large‑scale events such as I Love Study Abroad Week.
  • Supervise 10-14 student employees in the Study Abroad Ambassador program.
  • Host weekly or bi‑weekly meetings for student ambassadors and provide advising and event planning support.
  • Help student ambassadors meet the goals and priorities of the Office of Study Abroad and the university.
Requirements
  • B.A. or B.S. degree required.
  • M.A. or M.S. degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience required.
  • Knowledge of a second language.
  • Familiarity with higher education systems in other countries.
  • Experience living, studying, or working in one or more foreign countries.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Terra Dotta, Workday, and design platforms is desirable.
