Job summary

Nexstar Media is seeking a Studio Technician to support the technical operation of Newsnation studios and control rooms in a live broadcast facility in Washington. You will ensure all studio equipment and workflows run smoothly during live and recorded productions.

You will provide hands-on support for studio productions, including live broadcasts, prerecords and special events, while maintaining quality standards and assisting talent, production staff and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in television, film or post production is preferred.
• Able to interact well with directors, anchors, production and engineering staff.
• Detail oriented with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and understanding of live broadcasts.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Adaptability and problem solving skills.

Job description

The Studio Technician is responsible for supporting the technical operation of Newsnation studios and control rooms in a live broadcast facility. This role ensures all studio equipment and broadcast workflows operate efficiently and reliably before, during, and after live and recorded productions.

The technician provides hands‑on support for studio productions including live broadcasts, prerecords, and special events while maintaining technical quality standards and assisting talent, production staff, and engineering teams in delivering high‑quality content.

Essential Duties:

• Operates various equipment (camera, audio, visual, graphics and lighting) used for live broadcasts and recorded productions.
• Prepare studios for live and recorded productions.
• Set up, test and maintain microphones, IFBs, studio cameras and studio monitors.
• Provide camera, and audio/lighting production support as needed.
• Assist with talent setup - including microphone and IFB placement.
• Maintains and stores equipment.
• Perform equipment checks and operational testing.

Requirements & Skills:

• High School Diploma Required
• Experience in television, film or post production preferred

Compensation Range: $35-$40/hourly based upon experience
