Job summary

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is seeking a reliable Broadcast Stagehand on a per diem, part-time basis to support daily productions in the DC area. You will contribute to the safety, function, and visual quality of studio environments, including sets, backdrops, and lighting for live broadcasts.

The role requires hands-on work, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and willingness to travel between locations if needed. Flexibility with schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 2–4 year degree preferred.
• 3+ years of recent stagehand/set technician experience in live broadcast/theatrical environments.
• Valid local driver’s license (DC/MD/VA) with clean MVR and insurance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Manage and position studio scenes and structures; set up and take down sets, backdrops, and furniture as production requires.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on scenic elements, structures, and studio equipment.
• Assist with placement and operation of studio lighting; hang, focus, and maintain lighting devices.
• Use hand and power tools safely for set construction, modification, and repair.
• Maintain proficiency with computers, email, and be open to training on new studio systems.
