Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Birmingham is seeking a senior leader to drive projects forward, guide a talented team, and shape the studio’s direction. You’ll lead urban, commercial, and community-based landscape projects and partner with the Principal to define design direction.

This role emphasizes mentorship, client stewardship, and effective collaboration across disciplines, with a focus on delivering design excellence from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Licensed Landscape Architect with at least 10+ years of professional experience.
• Strong design sensibility with a portfolio of urban, commercial, and public realm work.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and collaborators.

Responsibilities

Their Birmingham studio is growing, and they’re looking for a senior leader who can drive projects forward, guide a talented team, and partner with the Principal to shape the studio’s direction.

What you'll be doing:

Leading and managing a range of urban, commercial, and community-based landscape architecture projects

Partnering with the Principal to define and refine design direction

Overseeing schedules, budgets, client relationships, and consultant coordination

Mentoring and supporting junior and mid-level team members

Contributing to studio operations to keep projects running smoothly

Championing design excellence from concept through construction administration

What we're looking for:

Licensed Landscape Architect (PLA strongly preferred)

10+ years of professional experience with proven project leadership

Strong design sensibility backed by a portfolio of built urban, commercial, and public realm work

Experience managing complex projects from concept to completion

Confident communicator with excellent client-facing skills

Collaborative leader with a passion for mentoring and developing emerging talent
