Job summary

The Tombras Group in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Studio Design Intern for an 8.5-week paid internship. Earn $18 per hour, with a maximum of 25 hours per week, from 9/23/26 to 11/20/26.

You’ll collaborate with senior designers and copy across multiple projects, producing final artwork and layouts that meet creative and vendor specifications. You’ll coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, manage file workflows, and help prepare art elements from various sources.

Qualifications

  • Prior work or life experience in a relevant field or coursework in design.
  • Currently enrolled as a senior in a bachelor’s program or recent graduate.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Create and coordinate final artwork to match creative intent and vendor specs.
  • Coordinate end-to-end processes so files are built accurately for production.
  • Work with world-class Project Managers, Designers, and Creative Directors on high-visibility clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements and deliverables are met.
  • Ensure smooth file movement through Studio Production respecting deadlines and quality.
  • Assemble art elements from various sources and verify print specifications.
  • Build digital art files from art directors’ files and printing specs.
  • Prepare and check files for accuracy and correct formats before submission.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with team for changes as projects progress.

What to expect as a Studio Design Intern at Tombras:

Commitment to a 8.5 week, paid internship of $18 an hour starting on 9/23/26 and ending on 11/20/26 with a maximum of 25 hours per week.

What you'll be doing:
  • Create and coordinate the production of final artwork including vector art manipulation and creative layouts
  • Coordination of this end-to-end process should result in the studio building files accurately according to creative intent and vendor specifications
  • Opportunity to work on high visibility clients and work alongside world-class Project Managers, Designers, and Creative Directors
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and consistency around the project requirements, scope, and deliverables
  • Ensure smooth movement of files and deliverables through the Studio Production team, with respect to deadlines, quality, and accuracy
  • Coordinate all art elements from various sources, which would include Art Director’s files, artwork from re-touchers, illustrators, copy from Writers, and printing specifications from Print Production and outside vendors
  • Build digital art files from all art elements including Art Director’s files and printing specifications
  • Prepare and check files for accuracy and correct file formats before submitting to team members
  • Continually meet and communicate with team members throughout a project to make additional changes and to receive new elements as the project progresses
What you bring:
  • Candidates should have prior work or life experience in a relevant field, be currently enrolled as a Senior in a Bachelor’s program, or a recent graduate with a major in Design, Graphic Arts, Media, Marketing, Advertising, Portfolio School, or similar field (a degree is not required)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G-Suite in a Mac environment
  • Must be highly detail-oriented in work and communication
  • Ability to maintain timelines, prioritize, and organize work
  • Positive attitude and ability to work and succeed in a team environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and efficiently
