Job summary

Tombras in Knoxville, TN seeks an Art Director Intern to join the Creative team. This paid internship runs 8.5 weeks from 9/23/26 to 11/20/26, up to 25 hours per week, at $18/hour.

You'll collaborate with the Creative Director, Art Directors, Copywriters and Designers to develop concepts, create digital assets, moodboards and presentation decks, gaining hands-on experience in a top independent agency.

Qualifications

• Prior work or life experience in a relevant field.
• Senior in a Bachelor's program or recent graduate in related majors.
• Portfolio is required or highly valued; degree not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with Creative team to contribute to conceptual and visual development.

• Create and edit digital assets for internal and client deliverables.

What to expect as an Art Director Intern at Tombras:

Commitment to a 8.5 week, paid internship of $18 an hour starting on 9/23/26 and ending on 11/20/26 with a maximum of 25 hours per week.

What you'll be doing:

• Work with the Creative team to contribute to the conceptual and visual development of various projects
• Collaborate with the Creative Director, Art Directors, Copywriters, and Designers to execute design direction
• Create and edit digital assets for both internal presentations and client deliverables
• Research trends and assist in creating moodboards, sketches, and presentation decks
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

What you bring:

• Candidates should have prior work or life experience in a relevant field, be currently enrolled as a Senior in a Bachelor’s program, or a recent graduate with a major in Media, Marketing, Advertising, Portfolio School, or similar field (a degree is not required)
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
• An engaging portfolio that showcases strong design skills
• Proficiency in Mac OSX, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Illustration experience is a plus
• You work well as a team player in a flexible, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
• You possess excellent visual and verbal communication skills
