General Motors is seeking a Studio Design Engineer in Pasadena, CA to integrate and balance vehicle models with design across Architecture, SMT, Performance, Human Factors and Manufacturing. You will work at early stages of vehicle development, balancing customer-facing packaging with design intent.

The role requires a BS in Engineering, 5+ years in automotive design, strong CAD skills (Unigraphics/NX), excellent communication, and the ability to work independently within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other relevant degree.
• 5+ years’ experience in a related area.
• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive design.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Aptitude to integrate complex systems and a passion for design.
• Strong analytical skills for unusual or difficult problems.
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated skills on CAD - Unigraphics systems.
• Basic understanding of Engineering Specifications.

Responsabilités

• Create, refine and finalize engineering criteria and collaborate with design teams.
• Lead the creation of integrated engineering solutions to resolve packaging issues while protecting design.
• Utilize DFSS methodologies to study trade-offs considering cost, mass, timing and assembly.
• Integrate regional/global requirements and develop alternatives for brand needs.
• Communicate with team members to resolve challenges within Expert Team meetings.
• Balance packaging and Studio models with customer-facing targets.
• Lead cross-functional surface & integration meetings and issue resolution.
• Support design surface development in digital and full-size models, VR/MR mockups.
• Benchmark competition and ensure an integrated package is competitive.
• Develop meeting agendas, publish minutes, and maintain NX skills.
