Job description

The Student Worker will provide administrative and operational support to the Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department at Lamar University. The student will assist with routine office duties, safety documentation, inspections, inventory, training preparation, and other departmental activities. This position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in workplace safety, risk management, emergency preparedness, and environmental health and safety within a university setting.

• Assist Risk Management and EHS staff with general administrative and office duties.
• Assist with maintaining safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and departmental files.
• Assist EHS staff with routine campus safety inspections and documentation of identified concerns.
• Help maintain inventories of safety equipment, supplies, first aid materials, and other departmental resources.
• Assist with preparing materials and spaces for safety training, meetings, and campus safety programs.
• Assist with data entry, scanning, filing, and organization of Risk Management and EHS documents.
• Help distribute safety information, materials, and supplies to campus departments as directed.
• Assist with tracking work orders, corrective actions, and other safety-related items as assigned.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling departmental information and records.
• Perform other Risk Management and EHS-related duties as assigned.

• Must be currently enrolled as a student at Lamar University.

• Interest in environmental health and safety, risk management, emergency management, occupational safety, or a related field is desired.
• Previous office, safety, facilities, emergency services, or administrative experience is preferred but not required.
