Job summary

Grand Canyon Education, Inc. seeks Online Student Tutors (Math & Computer Science) to help fellow online students from home, with a flexible 12–20 hour week schedule and paid training. Tutors will use Zoom to meet students and support their coursework.

Requirements include enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program, GPA 3.5+, and completed CS/Math courses; work remotely from Arizona within 30 miles of campus and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Have earned an A- or higher in the courses they wish to tutor.
• Must be able to tutor Computer Science, Math, or Statistics.
• Must reside in Arizona within 30 miles of campus.

Responsibilities

• Meet virtually with online students to explain course concepts and answer questions. Students will screenshare over Microsoft Zoom.
• Help students develop critical thinking skills instead of simply giving answers.
• Review homework assignments and identify areas where students need additional support.
• Personalize tutoring sessions based on each student’s learning style and needs.
• Contact students to schedule tutoring appointments.
• Document tutoring sessions and maintain accurate appointment notes.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Assist with administrative projects as assigned.

Academic Requirements

• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
• Have earned an A- or higher in the course(s) they wish to tutor

Subject Requirements:

Computer Science Tutors

• Must have successfully completed ITT-111, CST-105, or BIT-200

Math Tutors

• Must have successfully completed MAT-144 or MAT-154

Statistics Tutors

• Must have successfully completed MAT-274 or BUS-352

Student Employment Eligibility

• Be enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
• Remain in good academic and financial standing (SAP).
• Meet all GCU student employment requirements.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Work Environment

This position is 100% remote.

Tutors work from home, apartment or their dorm using university-provided equipment. Applicants must reside in Arizona - within 30 miles of campus while working.
