Job Summary: DVU Livestock Center is looking for a team of motivated individuals that have a genuine desire to learn through hands on work at the Livestock Center, housing the beef, swine and sheep herd. It is our desire to build a team of positive employees that are willing to learn and accomplish the many tasks that are required on a daily basis. Employees work an average of 15-20 hours per week, and one or 2 weekends per month. The schedule is reasonably flexible allowing students to take classes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Feed livestock housed at the farm twice per day
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and attractive facility.
- Assist with the herd health care tasks, including diagnosis and treatment of general health conditions across all three species housed at the Livestock Center.
- Assist with all aspects of livestock management, equipment operation and animal handling
- Operate various equipment and heavy machinery around the farm
- Assist with general maintenance of the facility
- Maintain landscape areas such as mowing, trimming, and flower bed care.
- Other duties as assigned
Education Employment eligibility:
- Currently enrolled Delaware Valley University student
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide required documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Some farm and animal experience preferred but not necessary
