Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) department seeks a Community Health Educator (Student Wellness Specialist – Intermediate Professional) to support students with alcohol or cannabis policy and/or legal violations. You will provide individualized education, perform brief screening and referrals, and lead harm-reduction workshops with student groups.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree and 1+ years of relevant experience; CHES certification is

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CHES certification preferred.
• Experience with BASICS and motivational interviewing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual alcohol and cannabis education services.
• Deliver brief screening, assessment, intervention, and referral for students with conduct-related violations and substance-related emergency department visits.
• Educate students about harm reduction strategies.
• Apply motivational interviewing strategies.
• Conduct education workshops about alcohol and cannabis for fraternities, sororities, student organizations, and academic classes.
• Assist with the development and implementation of health promotion initiatives, as needed.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
