BASIS Independent Bellevue School is seeking a temporary School Counselor to support elementary and middle school students with short-term counseling needs and emotional well-being. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, parents, and the broader school team in a dynamic PRIVATE school environment.

The position involves crisis intervention, development of SEL programming, and maintaining careful records, with an anticipated end date of March 26, 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
• 3-5 years working with middle and high school students in a professional setting.
• Willingness to develop and implement a new position/program.
• Experience with Social Emotional Learning programming.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term school-based counseling (individual or group) for elementary and middle school students.
• Facilitate peer mediation and restorative conferences.
• Support the development and implementation of social emotional learning curriculum.
• Offer guidance to teachers and parents for supporting students with social and emotional issues.
• Make recommendations for outside support when needed.
• Prevent, assess, and intervene in crisis situations.
• Create educational workshops for the school community.
• Maintain accurate records of intervention plans and progress.
