Qualifications

• Master's degree in school counseling is required.
• Eligibility for appropriate licensure; LPC may be considered in lieu of requirements.
• Experience as a school counselor or in a school guidance role is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supports students' personal-social, mental health, academic needs and college/career readiness.
• Counsels individuals on personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
• Conducts small group counseling on topics like study skills, social skills and anger management.
• Delivers classroom instruction aligned with ASCA/VA standards on counseling, career and bullying prevention.
• Develops and maintains a comprehensive school counseling program with equity focus.
• Collects and analyzes data to measure program effectiveness and inform stakeholders.
• Provides in-service training and collaborates with staff on discipline and student welfare.
• Keeps staff informed about state and national issues in school counseling.
