Job summary

Baylor University is seeking a Student Worker to support the ECS IT group in designing and implementing back-end database-driven web systems, while providing general IT support within the School of Engineering & Computer Science.

The role offers flexible scheduling (10–20 hours per week) around a student’s academic commitments, with a pay rate of $10–$15 per hour based on experience. Preference for Federal Work Study.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in CS/IS/SE or related field.
• Proficient in SQL database design and querying.
• Proficient in PHP, HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based web applications to improve departmental processes.
• Develop user interfaces that are functional, intuitive, and accessible.
• Test and debug applications to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
• Participate in project planning meetings with supervisor and IT Support staff.
• Follow institutional data security and privacy requirements when working with student and academic information.
• Maintain version control and software development best practices.
• Provide general IT support and troubleshooting when requested.
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive information and data.
• Assist with various projects, activities and tasks related to business operations
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
