Job summary

Penn State University’s Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science seeks students for the 2027 spring semester to take official cooperative weather observations for the National Weather Service, recording daily temperature and precipitation.

You will assist with a weekday TV weather broadcast and may occasionally give tours to prospective students and families. Weekend and break work is required.

Qualifications

• Meteorology undergraduate students are expected.
• Willingness to work on weekends and during breaks.
• Interest in observational meteorology and public tours.

Responsibilities

• Take official cooperative weather observations for the National Weather Service (daily temperature and precipitation records).
• Assist with production of a weekday television weather broadcast.
• Occasionally give tours to prospective students and their families.
