Job summary

The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit is seeking a Vehicle Assistant to support school bus transportation by assisting the driver and ensuring safe, courteous service for students. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to follow district policies during all trips.

Responsibilities include greeting students, helping them board and exit, maintaining order on the vehicle, reporting incidents, and assisting the driver in emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must have strong tech literacy for email/internet use.
• Experience in working with children is preferred.
• Commitment to confidentiality and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities

• Cordially greets students upon arrival.
• Assists students entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Maintains safe conduct on the vehicle during travel.
• Attends to students' needs in a pleasant and courteous manner.
• Assists the driver in emergencies.
• Completes transportation reports on time.
• Learns vehicle run locations.
• Reports unsafe conduct with incident form.
• Reports vehicle accidents per procedures.
• Courteous to parents, students, staff.
• Recognizes individual student needs while maintaining order.
• Occupies supervision-friendly seat on the bus.
• Provides CPI-based intervention and notifies supervisor.
• Collects personal items left on the bus.
