Job summary

Fort Valley State University is seeking a Van Driver to ensure safe transportation for Upward Bound students in Fort Valley, GA. You will operate a van or equivalent vehicle, pickup and drop-off students on schedule, and maintain daily trip logs.

Responsibilities include affirming passenger safety with seat belts, conducting daily safety checks, reporting repairs, and communicating with parents and teachers as needed; valid CDL required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDL (Commercial Driver's License) required.
• Experience driving vans and working with low-income, first-generation students.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills and basic math.
• Ability to maintain schedules while meeting student needs.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from designated pick-up and drop-off locations.
• Ensure passenger safety and that seat belts are worn.
• Complete daily sign on/off sheets, naming all students boarding/alighting.
• Conduct daily van safety checks and pre/post trip inspections.
• Keep interior and exterior of van clean; report any needed repairs.
• Convey messages from parents to teachers and report incidents.
• Record mileage and submit gas receipts.
• Other duties as assigned.
