Job summary

Independence Classical Academy is seeking a dependable Student Transportation Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students in a part-time role operating a 14-passenger van.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, safe pickup/drop-off, and following traffic laws; you will communicate with students, families and school staff and keep logs of routes and maintenance. A valid license and clean driving record are required, with GPS familiarity a plus.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Student Transportation Driver to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for students. This part‑time position operates a 14‑passenger van and plays an important role in ensuring students have a positive and safe transportation experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a passenger van for student pick-up and drop-off.
  
• Follow all applicable traffic laws, safety procedures, and transportation regulations.
  
• Assist students with safely boarding and exiting the vehicle.
  
• Conduct pre‑trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is clean, properly maintained, and equipped for safe operation.
  
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules or concerns.
  
• Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, and vehicle maintenance reports as required.
• Assist with loading or unloading supplies and equipment when necessary.
  
• Maintain a safe, professional, and positive environment for students at all times.

Part‑time position; approximately 15 hours per week.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Experience operating passenger vans or similar vehicles preferred.
• Previous transportation, delivery, shuttle, or professional driving experience preferred.
• Familiarity with GPS navigation and local driving routes.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to student safety.
• Ability to perform necessary lifting or loading duties.
• Ability to comply with all school and state requirements for transporting students.
