Job summary

Comal ISD Transportation in New Braunfels, Texas is seeking a Bus Assistant to support safe student transport. You will help with boarding, seating, and keeping students comfortable and secure during rides, while communicating with parents and school staff.

The role requires reliability, ability to lift and assist students, and adherence to district safety rules. Starting immediately, CPR & CPI certification is encouraged, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Must communicate effectively with parents, students and administrators.
• Must be able to lift and assist students.
• Ability to maintain pupil behavior management over groups of children.

Responsibilities

• Meet the student and assist with safe boarding.
• Seat students using restraints - seat belt, safety restraint, wheelchair tie downs.
• Observe and assist students during trip, keeping them comfortable and safe.
• Report any difficulties or changes in students needs to the Area Supervisor.
• Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in an emergency.
• Report to duty on time and report any accident per policy.
• Exercise student management through communication and discipline per policy.
• Keep interior of vehicle clean and presentable.
• Maintain neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Complete all required paperwork timely.
• Maintain district records per policies.
