Job summary

Comal ISD Transportation in New Braunfels, Texas is seeking a Bus Assistant to support safe student transport. You will help with boarding, seating, and keeping students comfortable and secure during rides, while communicating with parents and school staff.

The role requires reliability, ability to lift and assist students, and adherence to district safety rules. Starting immediately, CPR & CPI certification is encouraged, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

• Keep interior of vehicle clean and presentable.
• Maintain neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Complete all required paperwork timely.

Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To provide safe and reliable transportation service by riding various school buses and ensuring the safe and comfortable ride of our students. Maintains the highest level of ethical behavior with Campus Administrators, fellow employees and our community.

Education / Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with parents, students and administrators.
• Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with students, parents and all school district personnel.
• Must have the ability to lift and assist students.
• Requires a high degree of attention and have the ability to maintain effective pupil behavior management over groups of children.

Experience / Other Requirements:

• Must be willing to be certified in CPR & CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention).
• Previous experience with special needs children preferred.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
• As a safety sensitive employee, will be subject to random substance abuse screening under Comal ISD policy.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings/training in order to remain qualified.

• Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
