Job summary

RPSB Transportation in Alexandria, LA is seeking a Substitute Bus Operator to transport students safely and in accordance with state and local regulations. You will work under the Transportation Director and School Administrator, and may cover trips as needed.

Requirements include 21 years of age, a valid Louisiana CDL with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements, and completion of pre-service training. The position is nine months with pay per day of $70.67, starting immediately.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pass an annual physical exam.
• Hold a valid Louisiana CDL with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Complete 40 hours of pre-service training (30 classroom, 10 on-bus).
• Meet state certification requirements (Bulletin 1191, 1475, 1886).
• Know child behavior patterns and ability to maintain student discipline.
• Know school system policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from assigned schools.
• Notify transportation and school administration of absences or delays.
• Secure substitute drivers and vehicle as needed.
• Enforce discipline and maintain student safety.
• Keep vehicle clean and mechanically safe.
• Record mileage and complete required reports.
• Attend conferences and participate in in-service meetings.
