Job summary

Assumption Parish School District is seeking a Headstart Substitute - Bus Driver in Napoleonville, LA. Immediate start with duties to transport students safely, perform pre/post‑trip checks, and follow district policies.

CDL with air brakes and clean MVR are required, with annual medical exams and completion of state training programs. Reports to the Director of Transportation and duties may include other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• CDL with passenger air brakes endorsement required; must have acceptable MVR.
• Must pass medical health examination annually; certified through State Pre‑Service Training.
• Maintain certification through State’s Eight‑hour In‑service Training Program annually.
• To perform this job successfully, the individual must meet the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit concern for the safety of children and transport them with maximum protection.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip checks on the bus and equipment.
• Obey state traffic laws and district policies.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean bus and report mechanical problems.
• Complete required reports within the specified time.
• Show punctuality and reliability on routes and work habits.
• Report accidents and incidents as required.
• Transport only authorized students and discharge at designated stops.
• Adhere to district safety and cell phone policies.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger air brakes endorsement

Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Medical health examination annually

State Pre‑Service Training Program

Eight‑hour In‑service Training Program annually
