Job summary

United Ag is seeking a part-time Service Assistant in Plainfield, Connecticut. In this role, you will assist the Service Manager and technicians, maintain the condition of the shop and equipment, and support service technicians in repairs and servicing.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, teamwork experience, and effective communication skills. The job involves physical tasks, requiring stamina and the ability to handle tools and equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the Service Manager and technicians in the efficient operation of the department
• Cleans, organizes and maintains the condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
• Assist service technicians as needed, including delivery of parts
• Assist service technicians with repairing, servicing and moving equipment
• Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information.
• May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment
• Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
• Operate and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities

Requirements

• Physical stamina in the handling of complex tools and heavy equipment and moving through confined spaces

Education

• High school diploma or GED

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements
• Hearing ability is sufficient to communicate with others in person or over the phone
• Light to moderate lifting may be required (up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, and bend as needed
