Job summary

OSU Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, seeks student employees for the Food Science & Technology department to assist in the campus retail shop, including scooping, baking waffle cones, and serving customers.

You will operate the POS, track orders and sales, handle cash, and assist with ice cream exchanges with production, while maintaining cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
• Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
• *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with retail ice cream shops or retail sales

Working Conditions/Schedule

• Required to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card within 15 days of employment
• Expected to work frequent evening and weekend hours, as required, to support production needs
• Will be working in a fast-paced environment, often required to lift more than 50 lbs
• Lift, push, pull and carry items weighing 50-100 lbs repeatedly
• May require walking, standing, bending and stooping for extended periods
• May require working with or around cleaning chemicals
• Required to attend staff meetings, supervisory meetings and professional development sessions
• Shift and/or work assignments may be changed based on operational needs
