Job summary

The University of Georgia Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Student Surgery Crew - LA to assist in the large animal surgical suite, supporting emergency and routine procedures. You will help prepare the operating area, assist the surgery team, and ensure sterility and instrument turnover.

Work hours include after 5:00pm and some weekends in Athens, providing hands-on exposure to veterinary surgery within a teaching hospital environment and opportunities to learn anesthesia circulation and

Responsibilities

  • Set-up surgical suite for emergency surgery.
  • Position animal on surgical table with assistance from surgery team.
  • Complete appropriate preparation of surgical site.
  • Perform closed sterile gloving technique.
  • Assist with preparation of sterile donning of surgical gowns for surgery team.
  • Perform duties of circulation nurse.
  • Assist with placing animal in recovery after surgery.
  • Clean and disinfect rooms, surgery tables, and mats according to protocol.
  • Clean and run instruments in washer after surgery.
  • Clean and properly disinfect equipment used.
  • Set up room for next surgery.
