Job Description

SUMMARY

The Student Support Systems Consultant works with educators, families, LISD staff, and community partners to strengthen educational supports for students with diverse and complex needs. The role focuses on improving academic learning, communication, socialization, independence, and overall student outcomes through collaboration, consultation, and data-informed problem-solving.

The Consultant supports school teams by providing coaching, training, and guidance in areas such as academic accommodations, curriculum modifications, communication, sensory needs, social skills, and positive behavioral supports. The position also assists with evaluations, intervention planning, MTSS practices, documentation, and special education requirements while helping teams build their capacity to effectively support students

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required

• Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field; OR Michigan License for Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• At least three years of experience working with students with diverse and complex educational support needs.
• Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, with the ability and willingness to provide group training.
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and maintain a credible professional reputation within the school system.

Preferred:

• Additional specialized training or credentials relevant to student support services.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

• Valid Michigan Special Education Certificate or other appropriate Michigan credential relevant to the responsibilities of the position
