Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of college, an Associate's degree, or a high school diploma.
• Demonstrated proficiency in assessing knowledge and ability to instruct in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with young people and work well with school staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for classroom instructional events under guidance of a certified teacher.
• Assist the teacher with implementing strategies and interventions for individual students or small groups.
• Serve as a resource for students in communicating with teachers to achieve goals.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce material and help with self-help and independence skills.
• Assist in assessment activities to collect and document information on student performance.
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, and families.
• Assist in administrative duties such as attendance checking, classroom supervision, and proctoring tests.
• Set up and operate instructional technology under teacher direction.
