Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support students and teachers at Lawton Elementary School. The role involves assisting with health-related needs, classroom activities, and daily routines to promote student safety and progress.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred further education or credentials and experience with children. On-site, full-time work is expected in a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 60 credit hours from approved post secondary institution or CDA with additional hours.
• Passing MTTC or ParaPro Assessment required.
• Experience working with school-aged children preferred.

Responsabilités

• Support students with documented medical needs in lunchroom and other settings.
• Assist students with bus arrival and departure.
• Work as a team with teachers and support staff.
• Assist students with self-care needs, including hygiene and toileting.
• Maintain records monitoring student health and progress.
• Escort children to and from rooms and accompany on field trips.
• Be willing to be trained in seizure protocol and basic care as needed.
• Perform duties with regular and reliable on-site attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Formation

High school diploma or equivalent

Associates or Bachelor's degree

60 credit hours from approved post secondary institution

CDA certificate with 30 additional hours

Passing MTTC or ParaPro Assessment
