Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks a Teacher Assistant Self Contained at Logan Elementary School to support classroom teachers and students in a structured, inclusive setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following: 60 credit hours, an Associate or Bachelor's degree, or a CDA certificate, plus passing scores on state assessments; CPI/ABA training is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 60 credit hours from approved post secondary institution acceptable.
• CDA certificate with ability to complete additional 30 hours acceptable.
• Experience working with special education students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and disciplinary activities in lunchroom and other school settings.
• Assist students with bus arrival and departure.
• Provide assistance with behavior management and social skills.
• Work with teacher to modify and create instructional materials.
• Work as a team with teachers and other staff.
• Assist students with self-care needs including hygiene and toileting.
• Facilitate communication between students, staff and families.
• Maintain accurate records monitoring student progress.
• Ensure safety of students and staff during activities.
• Accompany students on field trips.
• Willingness to be trained in seizure protocol, medications, asthma care, etc.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
