Job summary

Bancroft is seeking a Student Support Specialist for the Bancroft School in Mt. Laurel, NJ. This in-person role runs 7a-3p, Monday through Friday, supporting teachers and students to optimize educational experiences.

You will assist with lesson planning, behavior tracking, and adaptation of activities to meet individualized education program goals, fostering a safe and engaging classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years direct student support experience, preferably in education.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implementing plans to meet physical, emotional, and educational needs.
• Assist in assessing a student’s abilities and supporting development of individualized lesson plans and activities aligned to IEP goals.
• Help establish a classroom environment conducive to learning, guiding social behavior and maintaining order.
• Assist in proper utilization of classroom equipment and materials; suggest resources for new supplies and curriculum materials.
• Under direction of the Teacher, observe and track student behavior, collect data, and create visuals to monitor progress and inform modifications.
• Support management of individual behavior to maintain a safe classroom; report hazards or damages promptly.

Hours: Full Time In Person 7a-3p - M-F

Hourly Rate: $20.07-$22.63/hr.

Position Summary

Provides assistance and support to Teacher in the planning and implementation of classroom instruction to specifically meet the educational needs of the assigned student. Provides encouragement and support to the student to contribute to the best possible educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implements plans to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student;
• Provides assistance to Teacher for the assessment of an assigned student's abilities and capabilities;aids in the development and implementation of lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals;
• Assists Teacher in establishing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to maximum academic
  and social learning by maintaining order and guiding each student to socially appropriate behavior;
• Assists Teacher in the proper utilization of classroom equipment and materials. Makes
  recommendations to Teacher regarding the purchase and usage of new supplies and curriculum
  materials;
• Under direction of Teacher, observes and tracks student behavior, gathers behavioral data, performs
  calculations, and creates graphic illustrations for review by Teachers, clinical-specific staff, etc, to identify and monitor student proficiency and performance levels, to support modifications to current educational program;
• Provides ongoing assistance to Teacher in the management of individual behavior of students to create and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment. Reports any safety hazards, property damage, etc. to the Teacher

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of Three (3) years of direct support experience, preferably within an educational or classroom-based setting; and/or
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred
