Job summary

Vassalboro Community School is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral well-being within our Behavioral and Life Skills programs. The role emphasizes proactive prevention and collaborative planning with teachers, families, and community providers.

You will document services to meet district, state, and federal requirements, assist in creating student support plans and IEP goals, and provide crisis intervention when needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and school personnel.
  • Experience providing evidence-based social emotional and behavioral interventions.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practices and positive behavioral interventions.
  • Understand/be willing to learn Maine Care billing and provide Ed-Tech supervision (coaching) as required by Maine Care.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a safe, welcoming and inclusive school environment through proactive, preventative practices in our Behavioral and Life Skills programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and meet district, state and federal requirements.
  • Support initiatives that promote positive student behavior.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of student support plans and IEP goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support when called upon.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, staff, families and community providers.
