Job summary

Bales Elementary, part of Buckeye Elementary School District, seeks a Paraprofessional B to support students with varied educational needs under teacher supervision. The role emphasizes assisting in classrooms, language development, and safety in daily activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma, fingerprint clearance, and First Aid/CPR certification; Spanish fluency is a plus. This 10-month, 29-hour/week position offers a base hourly wage and ASRS participation.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain a AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• First Aid/CPR Certification and AED is required upon hire or obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish (preferred).
• Obtain and maintain certification in Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills (written or oral).
• Experience working with school-age children.
• Experience working with children with severe needs.
• Professional development history showing knowledge about students with severe needs.
• Experience with students at various levels of instruction.
• Experience in reading intervention classroom is a plus.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and student data systems.

Responsibilities

• Paraprofessionals may work in regular classrooms, ESL, special needs, side-by-side or other special education settings.
• Duties in playground, lunchroom, lavatory, bus area supervision, and transportation of District students as required.
• Assist instructional supervisor with group/individual student assistance and language acquisition.
• Assist in maintaining classroom control and order.
• Assist teacher with preparation of instructional materials.
• Prepare and maintain classroom for student use.
• Assist in closing the classroom during breaks.
• Support personal care and non-medical health needs of students with special needs.
• Assist in field trips and other activities as needed.
• Help students acquire English fluency.
• Provide activities to improve language, academic, and social skills.
• Monitor activities at duty stations and ensure safety.
• Communicate needs and progress to teacher.
• Submit incident reports as required.
• Move around to observe activities and ensure safety and order.
• Maintain legible records of student work with teacher direction.
• Participate in safety drills and evacuation procedures.
• Report medical/safety issues to supervisor or health center staff.
• Attend classes and trainings to improve knowledge and skills.
