Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Dependable driving and work record a must.
• Positive and friendly work attitude.
• Must have DPI Spec. Ed. Program Aide certification or be willing to become certified.
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• Be knowledgeable and physically capable of lifting/restraining students weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to get along and communicate well with staff, students, and parents.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use computer equipment and other assistive technology devices.
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities and supervision of students in regular education classes and in unstructured settings (lunchroom, playground, field trips, bus).
• Support behavior management strategies, self-help skills, and health care procedures as needed.
• May work with wheelchair or ambulatory students in small groups or individually.
• May transport students in school vans for school-related activities.
• Other duties as assigned by the administrator or classroom teacher.
