Job summary

The Muskego-Norway School District seeks an Instructional Assistant to support special education teachers in classrooms and during unstructured times. Duties include aiding in self-help skills, health procedures, behavior strategies, and student supervision in lunchrooms, playgrounds, and on field trips.

Responsibilities may involve lifting up to 80 pounds and working with various students under staff guidance. A DPI Spec. Ed. Program Aide certification or willingness to obtain it is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Dependable driving and work record a must.
• Positive and friendly work attitude.
• Must have DPI Spec. Ed. Program Aide certification or be willing to become certified.
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• Be knowledgeable and physically capable of lifting/restraining students weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to get along and communicate well with staff, students, and parents.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use computer equipment and other assistive technology devices.
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional activities for students with disabilities.
• Supervise students in regular classes, lunchroom, playground, and field trips.
• Assist with self-help skills and health-related procedures as needed.
• May lift or restrain students up to 80 pounds when required.
• Maintain a safe, respectful classroom environment.
