Job summary

Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking an Educational Support Aide to assist teachers with small groups and routine classroom tasks. You will correct papers, record grades, and supervise students during assemblies, field trips, and lunch periods.

You may help prepare teaching aids, assist with science demos, music, and art activities, and proctor tests under direction. Training in crisis intervention and classroom management may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to assist students with disabilities to maintain routines and safety.
• Willingness to perform a variety of supportive tasks under teacher direction.

Responsibilities

• Works with small groups to review repetitive classwork and reinforce learning.
• Corrects papers and records grades under teacher direction.
• Accompanies and supervises students in school activities (assemblies, field trips, cafeteria, etc.).
• Assists with science demonstrations, music and art activities, and audiovisual presentations.
• Proctors and assists in administering tests and quizzes.
• Relieves classroom teachers for emergencies or meetings as needed.
• May assist in crisis intervention and classroom management as directed by the teacher.
