Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an In-School Suspension Assistant (26-27 SY) to support students in an instructional setting. The role collaborates with teachers to assign and complete coursework, while counseling students to promote positive attitudes and learning outcomes.

The position is non-certified, hourly, and part of a 9-month schedule with responsibilities reported to the Principal and performed on CMS premises. Reliability and a team-oriented approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher education equivalent or ability to pass assessments (Workkeys or equivalent).
• Education-focused background preferred for the role.
• Experience with elementary-aged students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with administration, counselors, and staff about students' academic and behavioral needs.
• Assist teachers with assignments and monitor completion for in-school suspension students.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom and maintain a quiet, orderly environment.
